Brownstone Bistro & Bar
603 Yonge St
(between Isabella & Wellesley)
When work finished today, I took the St Clair streetcar with my fellow department supervisor, Solieman. He was headed home, I was just headed out to find a place to eat. He was going to Yonge and St. Clair, and I thought that was a good place to start.
Upon reaching St. Clair and Yonge I got out to street level, and walked north a block on Yonge. I had remembered that there was a cute little restaurant there I had gone to year's ago with Devin. The restaurant was still there, but had become a french bistro, and it looked really stuffy!! I turned around and headed south down Yonge street.
It was a nice evening, so I walked, looked for, and stopped every time I saw a restaurant. Checking out each of the menu's posted outside, looking in to see the restaurant itself, and just seeing if I got a good feeling about the place. Let me just say there were a lot of places, but none of them seemed to "do it for me". I just kept walking. I would even cross back and forth the street if I saw some place that looked interesting. I didn't realize that I had walked so far, but I finally got a feeling that maybe I had found just the place. From across the street, I saw this really cool looking little place on a corner. I knew where I was, I thought I did any way, but could not remember seeing this place ever.
I crossed across the street, went in and right from the moment I walked through the door, I was glad I had walked the distance I did that day.
I was greeted with a smile, and showed to a table. The light's were down very low and I loved it.
There were 3 business men in the corner having food. Their food looked and smelled great. There were a couple tables inside, but the patio had the majority of the people.
I was shown the menu. I ordered some wine, and was so glad I was in a "real" restaurant.
They had grilled calamari as an appetizer, and the description sounded good. I had to order some, of course!
They were very good, not the best I have had, but they were still very good! I would order them again, when I go back here.
I ordered pasta as a main. Again, another great description. "Pappadelle de funghi"was the name of the pasta. It was amazing.
I sat there eating and was just so damn happy. This place is very nice and I will make a point to come back here to eat. You should try to as well. I highly recommend it.
