Baton Rouge
(Eaton Centre)
218 Yonge St.
This is a place that Cindy and I considered going to. We looked up their website, and for some reason, it looked like somewhere that we wouldn't feel comfortable at. Like an old gentleman's club, smokey, dark and not very friendly unless you were old and fat and smoked cigars. The menu seemed really dated.
OK that's a little overkill, but you get the drift.
That day had been a really long day at work and I needed someone to cook me food.
I decided to give it a try. I was by myself again and you know me, this doesn't stop me from going out and having a good meal. Or not?
The place was busy and it was dark as predicted. It smelt really good in there. There was a lot dark wood and leather, but it was actually quite inviting. I felt very comfortable immediately. I got a great waiter and told him of how my friend and I looked up the web page, and how we didn't want to come here because of it. I just looked it up now, and I really don't know what we looked at before but I remember I just wasn't feeling it. That wasn't the case today when I looked it up. I don't know?
Anyway, I am here, let the food begin..............
Wine list was good. I ordered.
Grilled calamari was on the menu and I knew I had to have it. It did not disappoint. I just love grilled calamari now!! I should been ordering it years ago!
Next was a steak. Come on it was a steak house. I had the top sirloin steak, with mushrooms, and a shrimp skewer. I was in heaven.
Desert was great.
The film festival was going on across the street, so every once in awhile, you would see flash bulbs from camera's going off.
Another great meal was had tonight. First impressions can be wrong, and in this case be very wrong!!!
Consider this place the next time you go out for food. I know I will.
