Moxie's
3401 Dufferin St.
(Yorkdale Mall)
We(Cindy, Brandon and myself) were in Yorkdale mall. Brandon was shopping for dress pants. In his new role as Flooring Supervisor, he needed some spiffy new duds. Yorkdale was the place to get them.
We needed to eat after our shopping ordeal, and we decided to go Moxie's The commercials on TV, make you want to run to this place and eat. That was not to be this day.
Atmosphere was nice. Waiter took forever to get there, and seemed annoyed that we weren't ready to order everything "RIGHT NOW". We ordered drinks and sent them on his way. We had our order ready when he came back, but as he left I said to Brandon and Cindy I hate ordering everything together, knowing this guy he will just rush us with all the food at once.
I had ordered the pan-seared prawns as an appetizer and had to put my glasses on when they showed up. Really? This was not a good sign for the rest of the meal. They were the smallest prawns I have ever seen.
The skewer seems like a massive stick of wood in comparison to them. I was not impressed.
My main course was a steak and I added a jumbo shrimp skewer. Hey, I am a glutton for punishment.
I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't the same size, but yet still amazed at what they call "Jumbo".
Brandon and Cindy had both ordered burgers. They came with enough fries to feed an army. I guess they were over compensating for something.
My experience today was not as I had expected. Since starting this journey, what I would have accepted as good food, just is not the same anymore. This place was not a place I want to go back to. The food was OK but it was just the general attitude of the server we had that night. He just didn't seem to want to be there. Not a great advertisement for this place.
Since going there, a couple of my friends have been back there, and posted pictures of their dinners on Facebook I was amazed at the pictures and asked where they had gone? Moxie's,Yorkdale, was their answer, I was shocked to learn. The pictures of food looked just amazing.
Maybe this is one of those places, those hit and miss places. You know the place, there's a 50/50 chance that you will get good service and or food. All that I know today, is that today my visit was not the greatest. If I have to come back here again, I will ask my dinner companies if we can go somewhere else if possible. To only go to Moxie's as a last resort.
No smiley faces today.
