The Bloor Street Diner
55 Bloor St. W
(Manulife Centre)
actual entrance on Bay

I was by myself today, and I was hungry.  I had just walked from my health food store (at Spadina), and I had just reached Bay St.  I saw the sign for The Bloor Street Diner, and I remembered from years past that the food was awesome.  I thought I would give it a try.

I walked in and asked for a table in the dining room.  If you look on their web site, you can see where I sat.  It was way back in the corner, great table, you can see all what goes on from there.

There are all these great big billowy white curtains.  It was really cool to see them blowing in the breeze.

Waitress seemed unsure of me in the beginning.  I think she not used to seeing a lot of people dining alone.  To me now, it just second nature to dine alone.

Wine list was good, it was going to be a good meal.

I had mussels.  They got it wrong at the beginning serving them with a tomato sauce, and not a white wine sauce that I had ordered, but they quickly corrected the situation.

They were amazing!!!!!!!

I also had their version of a spring roll.  It was really great as well.

I had a steak for my main course, and it was just amazing!

Desert of course was chocolate!!

My entertainment tonight was 2 older couples that came in for dinner and sat beside me.  Their conversations were at the least unusual??  Is this what old people talk about when they get old?
From talking about how many times the men went to the washroom, to one couple talking about when they went to France.  She didn't care for the food, and lost 10 pounds?  Are you kidding me??
They also went on to talk about some scam some lady had going on about their parents condo, telling the tenants that the rugs were not cleanable and then taking the rugs and selling it.  WOW!!

At one point I even had to just jump in the conversation when they couldn't remember what our last mayors name was, I just said the name and continued on with my dinner like it was nothing.  They just looked at me and smiled.  Jesus Christ is this how we are all going to turn out??

This just added to my visit this day.. It was a great meal.  I will definitely be coming back here!
I am just sad that I haven't been back here sooner.

Take some time and come to The Bloor Street Diner, you won't be disappointed!
